WELCOMING SPRING AT PATINA HOME & GARDEN

In a world that is often disconnected from the rhythms of the natural world, it can be easy to be swept into the syncopation of society. Our tempo quickens, and we lose touch with the true melody we are meant to dance to: the ever-changing song of the seasons, a composition that ebbs and flows with each falling leaf or budding flower.
If you allow yourself to be a student, then each season can take its rightful place as a teacher.

In this moment, we find ourselves an arm’s distance from winter, a season that showed us the need for rest. The last remnants are leaving the landscape. Barren branches, once dominant in the view, are now softened by the return of green. Leaves fill the trees again, rustling in the day’s breeze. Mornings, once cold and dim, are now bathed in sunshine and blue skies. Spring has arrived, and with it, insights that can only be seen in this growing light.

This season shows us that the rest of winter is not absence, but cause, bringing about the effect of new life.

It is abundant all around us. Plants are transferring energy once stored in their roots into life above ground, sending forth bright green growth that seems to arrive without hesitation. Birds move through the air in quick, joyful rhythm, gathering food for young ones just breaking through delicate shells in carefully built nests. Bees move from bloom to bloom, gathering pollen and nectar to bring back to their hives, replenishing the stores that carried them through the darker months.

These are all beautiful sights to behold, and we encourage you to do so. But the deeper beauty comes when you begin to harmonize yourself with the cadence of the season. Here at Patina Home & Garden, we are filling our shelves with offerings that we hope will help you do just that.

Just as the surrounding hillsides have traded darker tones of gray and brown for a full spectrum of color, our displays have become awash in the soft palette of spring. Tablecloths and linens printed with botanical studies, wares inspired by the garden outside, and candles carrying its scent fill our shelves and tabletops.

To more fully enter into the season, you can join in the work of growing through our garden section. From potting mix, worm castings, and seeds, to books filled with the knowledge to guide them, we are here to help you cultivate the garden you are dreaming of this year.

One of the most precious gifts of this season is new life, and we are choosing to highlight that in our children’s section. Tucked in the back of the shop, it has become one of our favorite corners.

Filled with children’s books to tend to growing minds, clothing for growing bodies, and art supplies and activities to support creativity, it is our way of caring for the little ones in your life.

Our selection of art brings the beauty unfolding outside into the home. We are currently featuring the work of local artists like Meghan Aileen, Jennifer Phipps, and Steve Giannetti, all of whom look to nature as a central inspiration. Their work allows a bit of spring to remain long after the season turns.

In our Farm Shop, we continue to embrace local vendors so that you may enjoy simple, thoughtful fare made with the finest ingredients.

Recently, we’ve added pasta from Nicola’s Pasta and gluten-free bread from Bountiful Blessings Bakery, so you can nourish yourself and those you love with ease, giving yourself more time to explore and enjoy.Â

This is only a passing moment. Soon, the bright greens will deepen, flowers will gather in greater abundance, and we will once again seek shade rather than sunlight. Summer will bring its own lessons, built from what is being learned now.

I hope that these offerings help you tune yourself to this season, so you can slow down enough to truly see it while it is here.
xx,
Brooke
