SEPTEMBER AT PATINA HOME & GARDEN

September is a month marked by subtle shifts.

With each passing day, the summer sun begins to fade. It snuggles beneath the cover of the horizon for a few moments longer, loosening its grip on the morning. Through the gaps in its grasp, a cool breeze can creep across the land. Once the sun wakes, with the help of its golden glow, we can bear witness to the evolution of the landscape it gives way to. Tree lines that were once endless seas of green are now dotted with islands of amber. Roadsides and riverbanks are overtaken by goldenrod and asters, their vibrant blooms picking up the baton of vitality from the fading summer sunshine. 

It would be a fool's errand to resist this rhythm, to stand our ground as the strongest star begs us to change. So we join in. So here at Patina Home & Garden, we join in, so you can too. 

Outside, we’ve adorned our porch with pumpkins from Patina Meadow, their rich orange hue serving as a preview of the more dramatic seasonal shifts that will soon overtake the surrounding landscape.

In the background hangs the last of the season's flowers, which will soon serve as a reminder of the promise of blooming when the world becomes too dark to sustain their beauty.

The annual autumnal shift continues as you enter through the creaky door of our old general store. Just like outside, the colors have begun to change, with deeper, warmer hues inspiring our selection.

In our vintage collection with Shoppe Ada, Edwardian nightgowns and light linens are now juxtaposed with jackets and cozy cardigans, helping you prepare your wardrobe for the colder days ahead.

With the sun’s shine dwindling, we begin to look to other things that glimmer to bring us joy. Lucky for us, our new collection of jewelry has arrived just in time. Handcrafted with gorgeous gemstones, each piece is made to bring a touch of bright beauty.

But adults aren’t the only ones whose wardrobes need autumnal updates. In our children’s section, we’ve added the cutest cardigans and accessories to help usher in the new season.

Along with apparel to refresh their closets, we’ve continued expanding our selection of books and enrichment activities to support them as they too shift with the season.

One of our favorite parts of fall is the call to slow down. After the frenetic energy of summer, this reduction in pace is a welcome summons to rest. Some of you will find the greatest relaxation bundled beneath blankets on a soft, leather couch.

For others, comfort may be found in the kitchen, taking extra time to prepare warm, nourishing meals for yourself and your family. No matter how you find repose, our selection is here to support you.

Speaking of the kitchen, our Farm Shop has begun to feature the full spectrum of fall flavors, from fresh, organically grown produce to the sweeter side of things, with small-batch caramel.

Decorating the walls of this small back room is our greatest inspiration: the unadulterated beauty of nature.

It is our hope that, as you walk back out our creaky door, you’ll feel a greater calling to live your life as a dance set to the song of the seasons. I hope you take joy in the soft steps that come with September.
