I've always found photography fascinating.
It allows you to capture a moment in time that vanishes as quickly as the camera shutters and preserves it forever. A memory, once gone in a flash, can now be revisited repeatedly and shared.
Today, I want to introduce you to Drew Doggett, a photographer, and filmmaker whose captivating images—featuring subjects ranging from the Indigenous people of the Omo Valley in Ethiopia to the wild horses of Sable Island—have allowed him to share moments with countless viewers.
We carry a few of his photo books here at Patina Home and Garden, and we are pleased to share he will be joining us for a book signing for his newest work, Untamed Spirits: Horses from Around the World, on October 18th from 2-4 p.m.
Doggett has always loved viewing the world through a camera's lens. He trained under some of the most influential figures in fashion photography, where he developed a signature artistic style that brings sophistication and flair to his work, no matter the subject.
When he found the fashion world personally unfulfilling, he left behind the hustle and bustle of New York City for the remote mountains of Nepal.
“Sitting high in the Himalayas, I knew this would be the beginning of the rest of my life in photography. Since then, I’ve created work featuring the most incredible animals, cultures, and landscapes worldwide using a fashion-inspired aesthetic,” says Doggett.
Since then, Doggett has traveled the globe, capturing truly astounding moments. He finds himself particularly drawn to places, people, and animals that seem to have escaped the touch of modernity, using his camera to explore and preserve subjects that the rest of us may never have the chance to see.
While I am in awe of all his photography, his equestrian images are among my favorites. If you have been following this blog for any length, you’ll know that I look to nature as one of my greatest teachers, and I believe horses are among the finest educators in that realm.
They move through the world with majesty and grace, in tune with all around them. I feel a deeper connection to their grounding presence through Doggett's images.
If you are drawn to these images, Untamed Spirits will quickly become a treasured collection.
“Within its pages, you’ll find photographs from the most breathtaking places in the world, featuring many of the most storied and unique horses. From their strength to their innate sense of character, Untamed Spirits celebrates horses and what I’ve found evidence of no matter the breed or location: a wild, ethereal, and untamed beauty,” says Doggett.
I hope you enjoyed learning about Drew today and seeing his striking photography. Which images were your favorites? Let us know in the comments below.
We hope you’ll join us next week!

Love them all......but the "3 Soul Mates" speaks volumes!
Love the Icelandic ponies! My husband and I saw many during our first trip to Iceland several years ago - we're going back at the end of December to spend New Year's Eve in Reykjavik -
Wish I could buy Drew's book here, as it's a little drive for me to get there, But I will get there someday. Keep up the great work.
Can I buy 2 tickets to the sourdough class?
